Local water risks
What causes water damage in Mansfield and Tarrant County?
Mansfield sits in the southwest corner of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, where prairie creeks, clay soil and fast suburban growth meet. Walnut Creek drains Mansfield toward Joe Pool Lake, and its tributaries run through neighborhoods, parks and low crossings across town. After a strong thunderstorm, those creeks can rise quickly, street drainage can back up, and water can reach garages, ground floors and slab edges before a homeowner realizes how fast the storm is moving.
Between storms, the risks in Mansfield turn inward and look a lot like the rest of North Texas. Expansive clay moves as it wets and dries, and that movement cracks slab supply lines and shifts fittings. Water heaters fail in garages, upstairs bathrooms leak down through two-story homes, and AC condensate lines clog during the long cooling season. Winter adds its own season: the February 2021 freeze split pipes across North Texas, and Mansfield homes with lines in exterior walls, attics and garages are still the ones most exposed when a hard freeze arrives.
The water damage calls our Mansfield crews answer most often:
- Walnut Creek and tributary flooding after heavy rain, with drainage backing up into low streets and garages
- Slab leaks on expansive clay foundations that shift with wet and dry seasons
- Water heater bursts in garages and utility rooms
- Upstairs bathroom and supply line leaks in two-story homes
- AC condensate line clogs in the long North Texas cooling season
- Frozen and burst pipes during North Texas winter freezes
- Roof leaks after hail and severe thunderstorms
